Eid Al Adha Muslims Exchange Greetings And Celebrate Sacrifice

Eid al-Adha: Muslims exchange greetings and celebrate sacrifice

Muslims around the world are celebrating Eid al-Adha, a major Islamic holiday that marks the end of the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca.

The holiday is also known as the "Feast of Sacrifice" and commemorates the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son, Ishmael, at the command of Allah.

On Eid al-Adha, Muslims typically exchange greetings with their friends and family, visit mosques for special prayers, and sacrifice animals in accordance with Islamic law. The meat from the sacrificed animals is then distributed to the poor and needy.

This year, Eid al-Adha is being celebrated on July 9 and 10 in most countries. In the United States, the holiday will be observed on July 10 and 11.
