Assistant Refused to Take Part After 46 Seconds

International Boxing Association (AIBA) Says it Must Uphold Eligibility Rules

PARIS, FRANCE - Imane Khelif of Algeria defeated Angela Carini of Italy in a women's boxing match at the Paris Olympics in just 46 seconds on Thursday. The victory sparked a debate about gender in sport and the rules governing eligibility in boxing.

Khelif was previously banned from competing in the world championships after failing testosterone level and gender eligibility tests. However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) overturned the ban, allowing her to compete in the Olympics.

The International Boxing Association (AIBA) has stated that it must uphold its eligibility rules and will not tolerate any discrimination against athletes based on their gender identity. The case has reignited the debate about the role of transgender athletes in sport and the need for fair and inclusive competition.
